The Vetsuisse Council and the University of Bern have appointed PD Dr. Christoph Koch as associate professor of equine surgery.
Cristiana Bersaglieri, PhD, Bastien Planchamp, Dr. med. vet., and Henning Richter, PhD, Dr. sc. med. vet., were honored with the Young Scientist Paper Award 2022 at the Vetsuisse Science and Barbecue Day. The three winners impressed the evaluators with their work, and we would like to congratulate them once again on this success!
Animal welfare researcher Michael Toscano from the University of Bern, together with international partners from industry, has received a grant of USD 2.7 million from the Open Philanthropy Foundation (USA). The funding will be used to promote cage-free rearing of laying hens through new breeding programs and to improve their welfare and health.
A prestigious grant from the USA has been awarded to biomedical scientist Sven Rottenberg, Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Bern, and clinical researcher Intidhar Labidi-Galy, University of Geneva and Geneva University Hospital. They are receiving joint funding as part of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs for their project on therapy resistance in ovarian cancer. This underscores the high quality of the research collaboration between Bern and Geneva.
The 2021 award ceremonies were finally held on April 4, 2022. We would like to once again congratulate the winners Mathieu de Preux, Benjamin Jenni, Lea Roch, and Kimberly Schmied.
